The Andrew Horsfall Art Exhibition: Art Meets Reflection at Jaipur’s Gyan Museum

The Gyan Museum is hosting an exhibition by British sculptor and artist Andrew Horsfall through May 30, 2025. Known for his bold exploration of human experiences, Horsfall presents a collection of bronze sculptures, digital portraits, and blue pottery masks that challenge societal constructs and contradictions.

“The exhibition celebrates 25 years of Andrew Horsfall’s artistic journey, showcasing his profound mastery in bronze and sandstone. His acclaimed works, including the ‘Beggar Series’ and ‘Bone Heads,’ delve into themes of victimization, egoism, and self-righteousness, sparking reflection and discourse,” says Arun Dhaddha, Director of the Gyan Museum. “We are also presenting the ‘Break the Glass’ series, an exclusive collection crafted from gems, diamonds, gold, and platinum, inspired by Andrew’s experience as a father of seven and reflecting the challenges faced by today’s youth. Additionally, the exhibition highlights Andrew’s latest explorations in digital portraits and 3D-sculpted blue pottery masks, marking his ongoing evolution as an artist.”

Horsfall’s work spans multiple mediums, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. His “Break the Glass” series, crafted with gems, gold, and platinum, reflects contemporary parenting challenges and the constraints placed on today’s youth. Meanwhile, his blue pottery masks and 3D-scanned digital portraits offer a fresh take on identity and preservation.

The exhibition also features sculptural narratives on resilience, exploitation, and overprotection. Pieces like “Metamorphic Crux,” a fragmented cross, question shifting beliefs, while “Gloria,” a bronze figure amid ruins, symbolizes endurance.

Horsfall’s Creative Evolution in Jaipur

Since relocating his workspace to Jaipur in 2020, Horsfall has drawn inspiration from Rajasthan’s artistic traditions, expanding his creative process. His latest work reflects an ongoing dialogue between historical influences and contemporary expression.

“Working with Arun and the Gyan Museum has been truly inspiring,” says Andrew Horsfall. “The keen sense of curation, meticulous attention to detail, and thoughtfully designed contemporary gallery has made the collaboration seamless. Their passion for presenting art in new and meaningful ways makes the experience both rewarding and enriching.”

Curator Nikita Sharma collaborated closely with the artist to craft an exhibition that captures his artistic evolution. “Together, we shaped a show that seamlessly blends his bronze and sandstone sculptures with digital explorations,” she notes.
