After Almost 4 Years in Prison, YFN Lucci Finally Released
YFN Lucci is officially a free man after nearly four years behind bars. The Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed the Atlanta rapper’s release earlier today (January 31), according to WSBTV. Fans had been speculating about his return, and journalist Loren Lorosa had already dropped some hints, urging them to “stay ready.”
“A source close to the rapper tells me Lucci will be released ANY DAY NOW,” Lorosa tweeted, adding that his team was “literally checking their phones daily for the call.”
While he does have some post-release conditions to follow, she reassured fans that they’re “nothing too crazy.”
Born Rayshawn Bennett, Lucci was taken into custody in 2021 on RICO charges. He later pleaded guilty to violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, landing him a 10-year sentence with a decade of probation. However, his early release isn’t exactly shocking. His label, Think It’s A Game Records, had already revealed in November that he had a tentative parole date for January 2025. Then, in July 2024, Fulton County DA Fani Willis gave the green light for his early release, stating in a letter to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles that the prosecution “does not object” to him walking free—so long as he stayed on his best behavior.
Now that he’s out, the question remains: what’s next for YFN Lucci? His fans are eager to find out.
