Conejo Schools Foundation kicked off the Cash 4 Conejo Classrooms program at the start of the 2011-2012 school year by awarding grants to 5 deserving teachers at Back To School Nights in mid-September.
Susan Moore, Lang Ranch Elementary School, Grade 2, ScienceThis year, Ms. Moore’s 2nd grade students will be studying man’s exploration of space, and will participate in a variety of NASA inspired hands-on activities.
Ms. Byington’s 3rd graders will be studying William Shakespeare this year. They will visit the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum and at the end of the year will perform their own adaptation of “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream.”
Melissa Glusac, Thousand Oaks High School, Grade 9, Language ArtsThis school year, Ms. Glusac’s 9th graders will write and publish their own work within the theme of neighborhoods, inspired by Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird.
Allen Saute, Sequoia Middle School, TechnologyMr. Saute’s 7th and 8th grade students will be introduced to the world of robotics. This will include programming and building environmental robots, incorporating the Lego NXT 2.0 and WeDo robots.
Ms. Wall’s Advanced Art Class will be visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. This will set the creative climate for the school year and inspire a wide variety of student projects.
